Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol is a terrific thriller with action sequences that function as a kind of action poetry. The best one has Tom Cruise hanging more than 100 storeys up on the glass windows of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world’s tallest building. He has been equipped with gloves that cling when slammed against a surface and release when they are curled back.

Tricky enough in concept alone. But it has been claimed that Cruise “insisted on doing his stunts himself”. Say what? The character Ethan Hunt is seen like a human fly clinging to glass, thousands of feet in the air, and you’re telling me we aren’t looking at computer-generated imagery? If that’s really Tom Cruise, he seems like a suitable case for treatment.

If it is or isn’t, the sequence is one of the most spellbinding stretches of film I’ve seen. In the way it’s set up, photographed and edited, it provided me and my vertigo with scary fascination. The movie has other accomplished set pieces as well. It opens with Ethan Hunt’s breakout from a Russian prison.

There is a staggering fight scene inside a space-age parking garage where moving steel platforms raise and lower cars, and the fighters jump from one level to another. There’s a clever scene in the vaults of the Kremlin Archives in which a virtual reality illusion is used to fool a guard. And a scene at a fancy Mumbai party in which Anil Kapoor thinks he’s seducing MI team member Jane (Paula Patton) in an elaborately choreographed diversionary technique.

Ethan and Jane are joined by Mission mates Brandt (Jeremy Renner) and Benji (Simon Pegg) in an attempt to foil a madman named Hendricks (Michael Nyqvist), who has gained control of a satellite and possession of Russian nuclear codes, and wants to start a nuclear war. His reason, as much as I understand it, is that life on Earth needs to be annihilated once in a while so it can get a fresh start, and Hendricks is impatient waiting for a big asteroid to come along in his lifetime.

The movie benefits greatly from the well-defined performances of the Mission team. Cruise, hurting from the death of his wife (remember her in the third MI picture?), plays a likeable man of, shall we say, infinite courage. Simon Pegg, with his owl face and petulance, is funny as Benji the computer genius, one of those guys who can walk into the Burj Khalifa with a laptop and instantly grab control of its elevators and security cameras.

Paula Patton is an appealing Jane, combining sweet sexiness with vicious hand-to-hand fighting techniques. And Jeremy Renner’s Brandt, entering the plot late as an “analyst” for the IMF secretary (Tom Wilkinson), is revealed to have a great many extra-analytical skills.

Brandt and Benji have a scene that reaches a new level of action goofiness even for a Mission: Impossiblemovie. Brandt’s mission, and Ethan makes it clear he has to accept it, is to wear steel mesh underwear and jump into a ventilating shaft with wicked spinning fan blades at the bottom. Benji will halt his fall with a little mobile magnet at the bottom of the shaft, so Brandt can break into massive computers. Renner does an especially nice job of seeming very scared when he does this.

The movie has an unexpected director: Brad Bird, the maker of such great animated films as The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Ratatouille. Well, why not? Animation specialises in action, and his films are known for strong characterisation. You’d think he’d been doing thrillers for years.

Now I want to get back to Tom Cruise, who we left clinging to the side of the Burj Khalifa, allegedly doing his own stunts. I’m not saying he didn’t. No doubt various unseen nets and wires were also used, and at least some CGI. Whatever.

I remember a story Clint Eastwood told me years ago, after he made The Eiger Sanction (1975). There’s a scene in the movie where Clint’s character dangles in mid-air at the end of a cable hanging from a mountain. He’s thousands of feet up. Clint, who also directed, did the scene himself.

“I didn’t want to use a stunt man,” he said, “because I wanted to use a telephoto lens and zoom in slowly all the way to my face — so you could see it was really me. I put on a little disguise and slipped into a sneak preview of the film to see how people liked it. When I was hanging up there in the air, the woman in front of me said to her friend, ‘Gee, I wonder how they did that?’ and
her friend said, ‘Special effects.’”

Story

Anal Murugan (Vikram) takes on the ‘Dadas’ who grab lands from innocent people. Pradeep Rawat is the baddie. Vikram also has a beautiful relationship with K Viswanath. Deeksha Seth, an IT girl plays the love interest of Anal Murugan.

Vikram, is one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year. Vikram has come out with yet another powerful performance, this time as a super-action hero. Deeksha Seth, the leading lady is cute and attractive and also a performer. ‘Rajapattai’ has given a nice opening for her in Kollywood. She will definitely make a big round here. K Viswanath’s performance is worth mentioning.

Performance

Pradeep Rawat, who played a stunning role in A R Murugadoss’ ‘Ghajini’ has again showed the same hard core villain face here in ‘Rajapattai’. Mithra Kurien, who played a vital role in Vijay’s ‘Kavalan’ has delivered a neat performance. Thambi Ramaiah and Mayilsami have done other prominent roles proving their acting talents. This is yet another action-family drama of Suseendran.The director has taken the support of Seenu Vasan in writing the story and Bhaskar Sakthi for doing the dialogues. The script has enough action, comedy, sentiments and romance, and fulfills a wholesome ‘Mass Masala’ entertainment! Suseendran has included many novel features in the film including Vikram’s 10 different getups that we never have seen in any of the films.

Technicalities

Yuvan Shankar Raja is scoring the music. Songs and the visuals are heart-warming. The song ‘Laddu Laddu Rendu Laddu…’ featuring top heroines Shriya Saran and Reema Sen is one of the highlights of the film. The locations (Italy) capture our eyes. Thanks to the camera work of R. Madhi. Mu. Kasi Viswanathan has taken care of the editing department. SP Creations Ramesh actually started the production but due to financial constraints he handed over the production and the film to PVP Cinemas of Prasad V Potluri.

Verdict

Rajapattai sure can be declared a pure ‘action-drama’ entertainer that can be watched with the whole family!

Don 2 is an action thriller film and Shahrukh Khan's dazzling action is the major attraction in it. The stunning visuals, Jason West's wonderful camera work, classic action and thrilling chase sequences, stylish narration, hip and witty dialogues, spectacular locations, beautiful costumes are the other highlights of the movie. What does not work in the film is its songs composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.

The movie has a stylishly crafted story, which is full of vigorous stunts. But one can deny the fact that Farhan Akhtar has borrowed several element of Hollywood films like Ocean’s Eleven, Die Hard, Mission Impossible and few others. Yet, it is a right package of entertainer for Indian movie-goers.

The film seems to have been made for the movie buffs, who love international thrillers. It is not surprising if viewers go to sleep in the first hour of the film due to boring dialogues, long dance sequence and Hrithik Roshan's hilarious cameo. But the post-interval portion of the film is sure to hold the attention of the audience. The second half is an exciting ride with several adrenaline rush moments.

In Don 2, Don (Shahrukh) surrenders himself to the police (Om Puri, Priyanka Chopra), who send him to a Malaysian prison, where he meets his old foe Vardhan (Boman Irani). With his foe, Don escapes from the prison by mixing poison in food served to everyone there. Then they go to Berlin to rob the currency plates for which Don takes the help of a hacker (Kunal Kapoor).

Shahrukh Khan has played a wicked, debonair anti-hero in Don 2 and he has lived it up with gusto. He also impresses the viewers with varied looks in the film. As Roma, Priyanka Chopra has delivered a high order of performance. Although Lara Dutta's character has less scope, she also wins the audience's heart with her glamour. Kunal Kapoor, Om Puri, Boman Irani and others have also delivered good acting.

Don 2 is very rich in its production values and Jason West's cinematography is the major highlight in it.
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's music for songs is good but it is not up to the standards of the movie. Dialogues are another attraction of the film and they are sure to become catchphrases. The locations and costume also add to the beauty of the film. The editing is slick in the first half but it is ok in the second half.

Overall, Don 2 is a perfect entertainment package for this Christmas. After Ra.One, this movie holds a mirror to changing trends in Indian cinema. Don't miss to watch SRK's dazzling stunts.

Jayalalithaa expels Sasikala Natarajan, 13 others from AIADMK - Name List

AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa today expelled her trusted powerful aide Sasikala Natarajan and 13 others from the party.

Sasikala's husband M Natarajan and Jayalalithaa's disowned foster son V N Sudhakaran were those sacked from the party by Jayalalithaa, who made the announcment in a terse statement, citing no reasons for her action.

This is the second time since 1996 that Jayalalithaa has distanced herself from Sasikala.

Jayalalithaa also directed her partymen not to have any link with the expelled members, most of them related to Sasikala.

Sasikala, also a former campaign manager of Jayalalithaa, was AIADMK executive member prior to her sacking. She is a co-accused in the disproportionate assets case involving Jayalalithaa.

In 1996, the two were arrested by the DMK government and Jayalalithaa had distanced herself from Sasikala, but both patched up later.

Sasikala, whose proximity to Jayalalithaa is well-known,had remained with the party supremo for long and was seen with her in public and private appearances. They have been friends since the early 1980s.

Sasikala owned a video parlour in Chennai while Natarajan had served in the state government.

Today's move sent ripples in political circles as Sasikala and some of her acquaintances were described as a "power centre" in the state, implying they enjoyed tremendous clout in government and the AIADMK, which returned to power with a thumping majority in May this year.

The expulsion of Sasikala and 13 others comes days ahead of the Dec 30 meeting of the party's General Council and Executive, the decision-making bodies.

Flash floods devastated a southern Philippine region unaccustomed to serious storms, killing at least 450 people as they slept and turning two coastal cities into muddy waterways strewn with overturned vehicles and toppled trees.

With nearly 300 people missing, Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and top military officials were to fly to the worst-hit city of Cagayan de Oro on Sunday to help oversee search-and-rescue efforts and deal with thousands of displaced villagers, as the weather began to clear and floodwaters receded. Among the items urgently needed are coffins and body bags, said Benito Ramos, who heads the government's disaster-response agency.

"It's overwhelming. We didn't expect these many dead," Ramos said.

Army officers reported unidentified bodies piled up in morgues in Cagayan de Oro city, where electricity was restored in some areas, although the city of more than 500,000 people remained without tap water.

Most of the victims were asleep Friday night when raging floodwaters cascaded from the mountains after 12 hours of rain from a late-season tropical storm in the southern Mindanao region. The region is unaccustomed to the typhoons that are common elsewhere in the archipelago.

Ayi Hernandez, a former congressman, said he and his family were resting in their home in Cagayan de Oro late Friday when they heard a loud "swooshing sound" and water quickly rose ankle-deep inside. He decided to evacuate to a neighbor's two-story house.

"It was a good thing, because in less than an hour the water rose to about 11 feet (3.3 meters)," filling his home up to the ceiling, he said.

At least 450 people were killed in the floods, Philippine Red Cross Secretary General Gwen Pang and other officials said. At least 229 died in Cagayan de Oro and 144 in nearby Iligan, which has more than 300,000 residents. The rest died in several other southern and central provinces, Pang said.

Many of the bodies were unclaimed after nearly 24 hours, suggesting that entire families had died, she said.

The Office of Civil Defense said 274 people were missing, but Ramos said the number would likely rise as more field reports come in. So far, 437 people have been rescued.

Cagayan de Oro and Iligan were filled with scenes of destruction and desperation.

A swollen river sent floodwaters gushing through neighborhoods that do not usually experience flooding. A man floated in an inner tube in muddy water littered with plastic buckets, pieces of wood and other debris. Ten people in one home stood on a sloping roof, waiting for rescuers even as water still flooded the lower floors.

Local television footage showed muddy water rushing in the streets, sweeping away all sorts of debris. Thick layers of mud coated streets where the waters had subsided. One car was thrown over a concrete fence and others were crushed and piled in a flooded canal.

Ramos attributed the high casualties in Mindanao "partly to the complacency of people because they are not in the usual path of storms" despite four days of warnings by officials that one was approaching.

Thousands of soldiers backed up by hundreds of local police, reservists, coast guard officers and civilian volunteers were mobilized for rescue efforts, but they were hampered by the flooded-out roads and lack of electricity.

The missing included prominent Filipino radio broadcaster Enie Alsonado, who was swept away while trying to save his neighbors, Iligan Mayor Lawrence Cruz said.

Authorities recovered bodies from the mud after the water subsided. Parts of concrete walls and roofs, toppled vehicles and other debris littered the streets.

Rescuers in boats rushed offshore to save people swept out to sea. In Misamis Oriental province, 60 people were plucked from the ocean off El Salvador city, about six miles (10 kilometers) northwest of Cagayan de Oro, said disaster official Teddy Sabuga-a.

Cruz said the Philippine coast guard and other rescuers were scouring the waters off Iligan for survivors or bodies that may have been swept away to sea.

In just 12 hours, Tropical Storm Washi dumped more than a month of average rains on Mindanao. The storm hit the western province of Palawan on Sunday and was expected to blow out of the country into the South China Sea later in the day.

Forecaster Leny Ruiz said records show that storms that follow the same path as Washi come only once in about every 12 years.

Palawan officials said mobilized emergency crews were on standby as the storm approached.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said in a statement that the Obama administration offered its "deepest condolences" for the devastation in the southern Philippines.

"The U.S. government stands ready to assist Philippine authorities as they respond to this tragedy," the statement said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected."

Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram is baffled by the Indian selection committee’s decision to opt for Abhimanyu Mithun over an in-form Irfan Pathan for the much-awaited upcoming tour of Australia.

“I would’ve definitely picked Irfan. His previous experiences in Australia would have been a boost to Team India. I don’t know why he wasn’t considered,” said a stunned Akram.

Akram felt the 21-year-old Mithun, who was not considered during the tour of England despite injuries to several players, will be under pressure to get acclimatised to Australian conditions quickly.

“An experienced cricketer like Zaheer Khan has broken down twice in two previous tours to Australia. On a big tour like this, the pressure to perform is huge, and I think Mithun would struggle on that front, which is why Irfan’s experience would have been handy,” Akram said.

He also reckoned that India have learnt their lessons from the England tour, during which they failed to win a single match, by giving themselves enough time to warm up before the series opener in Melbourne on 26 December.

“It’s good to see the BCCI has scheduled two practice matches before the Boxing Day Test. I think overall, it should be good enough preparation,” Akram said.

Indian Railways - irctc - Tatkal Ticket Reservation new Rules - Now 24hrs instead of 48hrs

Plagued by increasing number of complaints in Tatkal booking scheme, the Railways on Friday decided to reduce the advance reservation period of the scheme from two days to one day as part of measure to prevent misuse of the facility.

Besides, the restriction for agents will be extended from one hour to two hours (8 am to 10 am) and there will be no refund on confirmed Tatkal tickets subject to the exceptions such as cancellation of trains and late running trains.

"It was necessary to make changes in Tatkal scheme as there were many complaints against Tatkal bookings. We had to take some steps to prevent its misuse. All these changes will be effective within a week," Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi told reporters here.

Tatkal tickets shall be sold only on production of the identity proof and there shall be only four passengers per PNR for Tatkal tickets.

Trivedi said Tatkal reservation period was reduced from 48 hours to 24 hours to prevent its misuse by unscrupulous elements who resort to speculative booking.

According to the changed system, no duplicate Tatkal tickets shall be issued now and it would be done only in exceptional cases on payment of full fare including Tatkal charges.

"We are also planning to introduce a whistle-blower scheme to catch hold of touts who are indulging in misusing of reservation facilities. We are also installing CCTV in the booking area to keep a vigil at the counters," Trivedi said.

Jordan is sitting among prostitutes and strumming his guitar as they sing together -- 'Duniya ne humko diya kya, duniya se humne liya kya' -- when his manager pulls him out onto the street. Soon, a crowd engulfs the two and starts chanting his name, their voices drowning the sound of the manager pleading with the musician to get his act together. “This is what I have always wanted,” Jordan says, looking at his screaming fans. “But I am not happy inside.”

Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar is a bittersweet journey of a man, an artist, from being an everyman to a superstar. But while Ali uncovers layers off Jordan the iconic musician -- each layer as fascinating as it is intriguing -- he keeps the core of the character, Janardhan Jakhad, alive.

He hurts like anybody else, falls in love like anybody else, and has to deal with moments of sheer frustration too. And all of it finds release in music. Music is Jordan’s identity, it’s what makes him rich and famous. But to Jordan, that’s incidental. In the end, his artistry makes him connect with the person he really is inside. For a Hindi film viewer, that is a fascinating story to watch unfold.

The music itself is a delight. Each AR Rahman number is woven beautifully in the story, the high frequency of songs not hindering the storytelling, but enhancing the experience. Lyricist Irshad Kamil does an outstanding job, penning words that reflect the lead character’s state of mind and complement situations aptly.

Imtiaz Ali, in trademark fashion though, isn’t content focussing on the complexities of a troubled musician; he gives us a dose of romance too, and a generous one at that. Estrangement from family, lack of fulfillment in life, and self-discovery apart, what really drives Jordan’s music is his relationship with Heer (Fakhri, beautiful but awkward). Volatile as the affair is, it’s also what keeps Jordan sane, and Heer alive.

For about 15 minutes in Rockstar, the narrative tends to resort to ‘Bollywoodism’; true love having the power to cure a terminal illness (almost), for example, doesn’t exactly fit with what the rest of the film has to say. Yet, Imtiaz makes it work somehow, interweaving the fantastical romantic part of the film with the more gritty, dark bits deftly. In the end, how much you enjoy Rockstar will largely depend on whether the balance between the story of a broken, unfulfilled musician and the more conventional love story works for you.

I prefer the former, but you can’t deny Imtiaz credit for his mastery over the romance genre. No contemporary filmmaker has dealt with love stories with as consistent dexterity as Imtiaz. His interest in the man-woman relationship often treads a similar path (the lovers are usually confused, meet at different points in life, there’s always the 'other man'), but he makes each story stand out with interesting characters and novel situations.

Even in Rockstar, Imtiaz’s penchant for writing comes through -- the detailing is spot-on, the dialogue conversational and witty, the storytelling unhurried. Imtiaz the director doesn’t do too badly either. Rockstar is probably his most polished film, and he benefits from the association with cinematographer Anil Mehta and editor Aarti Bajaj.

And he benefits from having a livewire of a lead actor on board. Ranbir Kapoor has been Hindi cinema’s next big thing for a while now. With Rockstar, he lives up to the hopes pinned on him to deliver big. Ranbir revels in Jordan’s complexities; another actor may have found it to be an obstacle. The character arc undergoes constant transformation and he adapts suitably. It wouldn’t be an understatement to say that Ranbir’s portrayal of Jordan may go down as one of Hindi cinema’s most accomplished performances for an actor his age. Just to see him work his magic onscreen, Rockstar is worth a watch.

But while good acting is always an incentive, it’s a director’s vision that makes a film truly watchable, and Imtiaz deserves credit for trying his hand at something different from what the mainstream churns out every week. And for bringing back the one aspect sorely missing from Hindi films lately -- music.

NuclearMan APJ Abdul Kalam vouches for safety of Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant

Former President APJ Abdul Kalam, who is on a mission to allay fears about the safety of the controversial Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant, said it was 'completely safe' as it is located in a low frequency seismic zone, a view rejected by the locals.

Kalam, who held discussions with scientists and engineers of the Indo-Russian Joint Venture, including Nuclear Power Corporation Chairman S K Jain, said, "The plant is safe in all aspects."

"There is no need to worry about the safety aspect of the plant, as it is in a low frequent seismic zone. There is also no threat of a Tsunami as the plant is 1,300 km away from the seismic centre point. Besides, the plant is 13.5 metres above sea level," Kalam, a votary of nuclear energy, said.

Kalam's visit comes amid the continuing standoff on the Rs 13,600 crore Indo-Russian project, whose first unit was scheduled to be commissioned in December.

Officials said the agitation by locals against the project has upset the scheduled commissioning.

Kalam said all safety aspects, including automatic cooling of the plant in the event of generator failure after power goes off, 'double wall' protection for KNPP workers inside and outside, structural safety and container to store the 25 per cent residual fuel from the plant have been provided.

He said he was also sure that there would be no damage to the surrounding environment with the setting up of the plant.

Kalam said 'Bath Tub' facility has been provided to flush core melt waste. "There is a solution in the tub which will take care of all radiation problems. There will be no radiation at all. The workers inside and outside the plant are 100 per cent safe."

Renault launches premium small car Pulse

French car maker Renault used the platform provided by the first Indian Grand Prix, here at the Buddh International Circuit, to launch its third passenger car for the Indian market. The new Renault Pulse will mark the company's entry into the premium small car segment and is expected to quickly widen its portfolio and draw in more buyers.

The new Pulse has been built on the same V platform that the Nissan Micra, the small car from Renault alliance's partner, was also based on. The Pulse has a redesigned front, but bears a striking resemblance to the Micra in every other department, including the interior trim.

The Pulse will be commercially launched in January at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi. Bookings will open after the price announcement in January. The car will be launched with petrol and diesel engine options. But the current announcement from Renault only talks about the K9K diesel engine being available with the Pulse. This 1.5-litre diesel engine is said to be very popular worldwide and is expected to be very efficient in the Pulse, being capable of offering up to 23 kmpl of mileage.

The car will be manufactured in the Renault-Nissan alliance plant in Chennai. The plant has also commenced localised production of the engine. It is said to only be the third plant worldwide to manufacture this engine for Renault. Initial engine production capacity will be 1.5 lakh units and this is expected to be ramped up to 3 lakh units. The engine has been available in the Indian market for the past four years in the Renault Logan.

The Pulse will be positioned at the top end of the B segment and will be pitched at value conscious premium hatch buyers, according to Mr Marc Nassif, Managing Director of Renault India. The new hatch has been developed entirely in India by Renault's in-house design centre in Mumbai.

Renault expects to launch two more cars in 2012, including the Duster, an affordable SUV, and possibly another small car. The company is also targeting to increase the number of its dealerships from about 40 this year to about 100 by end 2012.

At the Grand Prix here, Renault Sport F1's RS27 engine powers the cars of three teams.

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel won the Indian Grand Prix with a clear victory over his rivals on the circuit. Jenson Button of McLaren finished second while Ferrari's spanish driver Fernando Alonso came third.

Vettel had claimed at Buddh International Cricuit (BIC), here on Saturday. Vettel had won the Drivers' Championship during the the 15th race of the season at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan and his team Red Bull won the Constructors' Championship in the next race in Korea. The Indian GP is the 17th with two more races remaining in this season.

Selvaraghavan reasons that the movie is delayed due to his bad health. hi guyz,

im juz back frm watching 7am arivu - 6pm show in singapore. so thought of writing a review. well, i do not know how to write a review unlike pondy bhai. this is my 1st time. plus my english is not that gr8. so my review will be simple, meaning to say i wont go into too many details. many of you might know that im a surya fan. but dont worry. my thoughts are not biased. so strengthen your heart n mind 1st coz you might be reading the worst type of review in your life

i will not start of by saying things like this is the most expected film since its the ghajini team n murugadoss film after 5 years, its the 2nd costliest tamil movie etc. etc. i will jump straight into the story.

1600 years ago there was this prince called bodhidharman(surya) who is a martial art and a medicine expert. he is frm kanchivaram. then he went to china. not sure why coz many audience were shouting and whistling. then in the china village there was a weird disease attacking. then surya helped them cure this disease and taught them how to cure. so due to this the villager see him as a god. then later some men in horse attacked the village people. then again surya helped and taught them the martial arts. when he want to go back to india, the villagers gave him poison since they want his body to be burried in the village so that the village will be free from disease. knowing their intention, surya drank the poison willingly. thats how martial arts n chinese medicine grew.

then coming to the current year, there is this surya who is a circus artist who falls in love with shruthi hasan who is a scientist. shruthi moves closely with surya. then when surya relatives came frm their village they saw shrithi hasan n informs surya that shruthi hasan was following surya for more than a year. when surya heard this, he goes to shruthi home n finds out that shruthi was using surya all these while for experiments regarding dna since surya is bodhidharman's parambarai (dont know how to say in english sorry). then she tells more information about her research to surya saying that bodhidarman's power is inside surya n it can be activated.

meantime this villan frm china named dong injects something into a dog. then with the power of his eyes he destorys police officers n was going after surya n shrithi to kill them. surya n shruthi knows abt this n then they found out that that dong was sent by the chinese governemnt. he injected disease to the dog which will spread to the whle of india. then when india suffers, china can sell the medicine to india since only they know how to make this medicine since it is taught by bodhidharman years back. dong wants to kill surya n shruthi since shruthi can make surya into bodhidarman n can get the medicine. then shruthi n her frnds started experinmenting surya to become bodhidarman. then when dong almost kill surya, surya get activated by bodhidarman powers n destroys dong.

surya shruthi n dong are the 3 main characters in this movie. surya's performance was good. the much talked abt circus stunts failed to impress since it can be seen only for less than a minute in total in the ringa ringa song. but his action scenes are mind blowing espicially the climax. surya fight exactly like a martial art expert.

shruthi shd feel very lucky to get this role. she was more like a 2nd hero then an ordinary glam doll heroine. n she made use of it very well. she will have a bright future in tamil cinema. all the best to ulaganayagan heir.

then the villain dong. he simply rocked. one of the best villains i have seen. such a powerful eyes. his martial art wows the audience. well sected by murugadoss.

to tell abt the movie, it started of with history of bodhidarman. 15 mins of history. 15 cores was spent on it. so 1 core per min. it was deserving. yes. we could see n feel that richness in the 15 mins history. the action sequence was awesome. im sure all of you wld enjoy the history.

then the movie starts off. i would say it was dissapointing 1st half. the main reason for that was songs. 4 songs in the 1st half. 3 of them was unnecessry. 1st song was the chinese song n it was well placed. then after the history ends ringa ringa song started as an introduction. though ringa ringa song was unnecessairy it kept audince in the seat as the way the song was taken was gr8. with huge amnt of dancers n the location, camera etc. it was good to see. but then soon afterwards mun andhi song came too quikcly. then even quicker was yemma yemma. its disapointing to see director like ar murugadoss to place songs unnecessarily.

the story really didnt move in the 1st half. when the intermission came, to be honest i was not keen to watch the 2nd half. yes. it was that bad.

but 2nd half - it was 1st class. the movie ran in lightnening speed. every second was simply awesome. it makes you anxious to know what is goin to happen next. powerful, untouchable villan chasing hero n heroine may remind us of dasavatharam. adding to being a scientific medical movie, there was nothing else simlar to dasavathram. it is different.

stunt sequence is the highlight of this film. the movie shows the art of nokuvarmam which means controling of a person's brain by juz looking with your eyes. this was done by bodhidharman and the villain in many places. weather is that real or not, weather it could be done or not is a differnt thing. but an orndinary audience may not beilive it espicially the scene when the villain controls entire motorist mind in the road. but though it seems unbeilvable, it was overshadowed by the brilliant steunt sequence. what i mean is, spider biting a guy and the guy becomes spider man. though this is unbelivable, we will not bother abt it. we will look only @ the stunt sequence. same applies to this movie.

overall i would say that this movie will fullfill the expectaion of all if not exceed it. 7am arivu is a milestone not only in tamil film history but also indian film history. like i said the only minus is 1st half, but it was overshadowed byt the brilliant 2nd half. it is a must watch film.

Zimbabwe have become the 13th team to win an ODI after scoring more than 300 in a run-chase. They are, however, one of only ten sides to do so against one of the top eight teams. Their previous bestsuccessful run-chase had been 290 against West Indies in 2000.
This was the 41st time a team scored 300 or more in a run-chase to win the match. India have achieved it 11 times, which is easily the highest. Pakistan and Sri Lanka have done it five times each. In terms of teams being on the receiving end of such a defeat, England top the list with eight such defeats, followed by India with six.
It's only the second time that New Zealand have lost after scoring 300 or more batting first. Their previous instance was against India in December 2010 when Yusuf Pathan's unbeaten 123 off 96 balls helped India overhaul a target of 316 with seven balls remaining.
It's also the first time New Zealand have lost an ODI after two of their batsmen have scored hundreds. In all, this has happened on 17 occasions, with India being at the receiving end four times.
The match aggregate of 657 runs is the highest in an ODI in Zimbabwe, going past the previous record by a handy 32 runs. Among all ODIs, it ranks 21st.
Despite the high aggregate, there were also four batsmen who got out without scoring a run, which makes this the ODI with the highest aggregate in which four or more batsmen have got ducks.
Kane Williamson's poor luck with centuries continued. This was his second ODI hundred, and his second in a losing cause. He'd earlier scored 108 against Bangladesh in 2010-11 during that ill-fated series when New Zealand were drubbed 4-0.

Super Star ShahRukh's Blockbuster for Diwali - G.One Rocks

Ra.One Villain Description :

‘If he would have died the first time, we wouldn’t need to burn him every year.’ Those are our antagonist Ra.One’s (Arjun Rampal’s) words on the mythological villain Raavan he is named after. With those words, not only does Ra.One exemplify his strength but also justifies bagging the title role of the film.

Ra.One Movie Story:

The plot is interesting. An innocent Prateek (Armaan Verma), a gaming freak, longs to fight a never-losing virtual villain, a super-villain if you may. His doting father (Shah Rukh Khan), a video game programmer offers him just that, the ultimate villain, Ra.One. Although, a true believer of the powers of good over evil, he also programmes a super-hero, G.One. Advancement in technology and a certain turn in events bring these virtual superhero and villain to life. The ensuing incidents form the rest of the story.

One cannot take away from Shah Rukh Khan his superstar status. How could one? He brings a charisma to the screen rarely seen in other actors. As the curly-haired South Indian Shekhar Subramaniam, he is funny, charming even as he eats noodles with curd by hand. As G.One, he is the superhero we’ve been vying for, one that doesn’t shy of paying respect to his predecessor, Chitti aka Robot (played by the rightly credited, superstar Rajinikanth).

At this juncture, the captain of the ship, director Anubhav Sinha must be mentioned. He blows life into this unique concept much like G.One spreads love with his ‘hart’ (hertz advanced resonance transmitter). To execute a sci-fi thriller with romance and comedy thrown in definitely requires courage and understanding of cinema. He shows both.

Ra.One Movie Review :

When we speak of performance in the film, the first image that comes to mind is a spewing Arjun Rampal. A strategic move to not reveal his ‘look’ until the last minute pays off as he embodies the vicious part. His performance, especially the voice modulation is sure to win him accolades.

Ra.One Movie Kareena Kapoor Performance :

The apple of everyone’s eyes, Kareena Kapoor is bedazzling. When she’s on screen, she lights up the frame. Besides, nobody could have pulled off a Chhamak Challo the way she does.

Ra.One Movie VFX :

Entry Restricted for Sourav Ganguly at Eden Garden

Even in his worst nightmares, Sourav Ganguly would not have seen it coming. It was possibly for the first time in his long cricketing career that the former Indian captain and local boy was stopped from going to the Eden Gardens ground as he was not carrying an identity card.

Ganguly, who was doing his maiden commentary assignment at the Eden for the host television broadcaster during the fifth and final India-England one-dayer on Tuesday, was stopped by an anti-corruption unit (ACU) official of the International Cricket Council (ICC) when he was entering the ground for the pitch report before the start of the game.

The ACU official, Dharmender Singh Yadav, asked him "Who are you?," to which a startled Ganguly reportedly replied "I'm Sourav Ganguly, going for the pitch report."

However, Yadav was not impressed and asked for his identity card, which Ganguly was not carrying then as he had left it in the commentary box.

Ganguly had to walk back to the commentary box, get his card and then only Yadav allowed him into the ground.

Ganguly did not make any comment on the incident.

However, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) joint secretary Biswarup Dey said he had heard that such an incident did take place. "The thing was sorted out. But I will speak to Ganguly," he said.

India won the match by 95 runs to seal the five-match series 5-0.

Sushil Kumar becomes first person to win Rs 5 crore on Kaun Banega Crorepati

History was made when Sushil Kumar, a computer operator from Bihar, became the first ever contestant to win five crore rupees on 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 5'.

Now that's an amount 27-year-old Sushil Kumar, from Champaran, Bihar, could only dream of a couple of days back. But on Wednesday morning, that dream turned to reality after he became the first crorepati on this season of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 5'.

'Kaun Banega Crorepati 5' host Amitabh Bachchan said, "My heartiest congratulations to Sushil, his family, his wife and all his friends who came to support him."

"First and foremost, I will build a house for myself and then I will help my brothers start their businesses. I'm also very fond of reading, so now I will buy many books, start a library and read a lot," said Kumar.

Sushil's is literally a rags to riches story and according to him, getting to the rupees 5 crore mark wasn't as difficult as one would imagine.

"I didn't do any special preparation for this. This is just what we used to study. Anyway, the questions asked here are similar to the ones asked in our exams," said Kumar.

Being an avid follower of the game show and an even bigger fan of Big B, participating itself was a dream come true for Sushil Kumar.

"The fact that I met Amitabh Bachchan is a very big deal in itself. I used to always watch him on TV. The moment I met him, I touched his feet and hugged him. Even if I didn't win anything, I at least got to hug him and that is something I will never forget," said Kumar.

With this win, Sushil Kumar becomes the first ever contestant to win rupees 5 crore on KBC and this episode will be aired on the November 2.

Ezham Arivu is a sci-fi thriller in which Suriya plays a double role: a circus artist and Buddhist monk. Interestingly, Shruti Haasan will play the role of Subha Srinivasan, a scientist. The story is said to revolve around a time machine brought to India by a scientist (Shruti Haasan). The film is also being dubbed in Hindi and Telugu. Set in backdrops of 1600 years ago, the film takes us straight to the history of Boddhidharman (Suriya), a legend from Kanchipuram, who spread the philosophy of Zen, became the guru of ‘Shaolin Temple’, a medical scientist and commenced the art of martial arts in China. What happens is that such a great history is hidden that in turn trivialized so many arts that took birth from Boddhidharman. Cut to present generation, a group of scientists including Subha (Shruthi Haasan) are into the project of recreating ‘Boddhidharman’ by the technology of ‘RECOMBINANT DNA TECHNOLOGY’ that is a method that includes the combination of DNAs from the lineage of warriors and versatile artist. Well, a circus artist Aravind (again played by Suriya), from the lineage of Boddhidharman becomes the source of evoking the legend. Will the young team able to break down the operation or succumb to the culmination?
To start off with the basic concept of 7 Aum Arivu, it’s a very well known concept that every individual on this globe possesses the traits of his ancestors and there is nothing new about it. But what makes the film so special and quite unique is our hero ‘Boddhidharman’. The factual reports about him exhibited during the opening sequences of the film are colossal. But what doesn’t interest the audiences is the screenplay that becomes dull at places and almost all the proceeding become predictable. To be precise, first half of the film has a moderate tempo and the conflict begins only during post-intermission.

We bring you some sequences from the film that deserves special appreciation…

1. The point where Johny tries to hypnotize Suriya and fails.
2. The dialogue pertaining to the death of a Tamil Liberation Leader and his culmination due to betrayal.
3. The action sequences on the highway road, where the entire public crowd starts attacking Suriya and Shruthi Haasan.

Suriya has done a tremendous hard work over his physique and his action sequences are very much perfect. But it’s Johny Tri Nguyen stealing the show with his marvelous stunts. In fact, the foreign actor wins applause with his introduction scene. Shruthi Haasan looks little nervous during most of the sequences, but delivers an impressive spell in songs, especially in ‘Yella Lama’, which carries a amazing cinematography. The onscreen chemistry between Suriya and Shruthi Haasan is completely missing.

Most of the songs are nowhere closer to the film 7aum Arivu. A.R. Murugadoss has purposely added the songs to add up length. Harris Jayaraj is losing his graph over the background score in his past few films and this one doesn’t become an exception. Most of the sequences have loud and noisy background score. Anthony’s editing is crisp, especially during the action sequences…

It’s always tough to make a sci-fi film where you have to first make the audience understand the basic premise – the ‘new technology’ that makes things happen. And even tougher when your primary target audience is children. Shahrukh Khan and Anubhav Sinha manage to pull it off barely by a pixel. So Shekhar Subramanian (SRK) is a clumsy, Hindi and Tamil speaking game programmer in London. He has a wife Sonia (Kareena Kapoor) and a kid Prateek. To impress his son, he makes a computer game where the villain RA.One is more powerful than the hero, G.One. Then the unexpected happens. Thanks to the ‘new technology’, RA.One enters the real world. Now he is all set to cause destruction everywhere he goes and even G.One might not be able to stop him.

Kareena really doesn’t have much scope to show off her talent, except in the songs and she shines in them. Shahrukh is in a totally new avatar here and it’s not just the curly hair. His romance is downplayed, he does funny football fights and gets his Tamil wrong. But hey, it is an interesting change from his usual dreamy romantic scenes. And when he has to remain expressionless as he is playing a game character, he still conveys a lot with his blue eyes.

A big cheer for Arjun Rampal. We couldn’t wait for RA.One to come out of the game, just so we could see the hunk. We waited. And waited. The most tragic thing that can happen to a hero, happens to Shekhar and all we are thinking is, where is Arjun? It’s post-interval and he is still to make his appearance. Poor Arjun. And to think he shaved his glorious head of hair just to be in less than half a movie. Despite the length of his role, Arjun makes a heady impact.

If you are a die-hard SRK fan, you should give this film a shot. Especially with the VFX actually being really stunning. It makes you want to believe that yes, gaming characters can enter the real world. That’s a huge plus. RA.One has set the bar really high with its VFX. If only director Sinha had paid that much attention to the emotional factor. There are so many moments where you know he wants you to pull out your handkerchief but you just don’t feel the need to. That’s why in the end, we are still left asking one thing: G.One might be a superhero with a heart, but hey Shahrukh, where’s the soul?

AR Murugadoss directed 7th Sense (7 Aam Arivu in Tamil) starring Surya and Shruti Haasan, is due for release tomorrow on Diwali festival day, but the buzz is that Aamir Khan will remake the film in Hindi.

According to Sources, Murugadoss held a special screening of the film to Aamir Khan who liked the film and agreed to star in the Hindi remake. Thus, after Ghajini, Murugadoss will again direct Aamir.

hi guyz,

im juz back frm watching 7am arivu - 6pm show in singapore. so thought of writing a review. well, i do not know how to write a review unlike pondy bhai. this is my 1st time. plus my english is not that gr8. so my review will be simple, meaning to say i wont go into too many details. many of you might know that im a surya fan. but dont worry. my thoughts are not biased. so strengthen your heart n mind 1st coz you might be reading the worst type of review in your life

i will not start of by saying things like this is the most expected film since its the ghajini team n murugadoss film after 5 years, its the 2nd costliest tamil movie etc. etc. i will jump straight into the story.

1600 years ago there was this prince called bodhidharman(surya) who is a martial art and a medicine expert. he is frm kanchivaram. then he went to china. not sure why coz many audience were shouting and whistling. then in the china village there was a weird disease attacking. then surya helped them cure this disease and taught them how to cure. so due to this the villager see him as a god. then later some men in horse attacked the village people. then again surya helped and taught them the martial arts. when he want to go back to india, the villagers gave him poison since they want his body to be burried in the village so that the village will be free from disease. knowing their intention, surya drank the poison willingly. thats how martial arts n chinese medicine grew.

then coming to the current year, there is this surya who is a circus artist who falls in love with shruthi hasan who is a scientist. shruthi moves closely with surya. then when surya relatives came frm their village they saw shrithi hasan n informs surya that shruthi hasan was following surya for more than a year. when surya heard this, he goes to shruthi home n finds out that shruthi was using surya all these while for experiments regarding dna since surya is bodhidharman's parambarai (dont know how to say in english sorry). then she tells more information about her research to surya saying that bodhidarman's power is inside surya n it can be activated.

meantime this villan frm china named dong injects something into a dog. then with the power of his eyes he destorys police officers n was going after surya n shrithi to kill them. surya n shruthi knows abt this n then they found out that that dong was sent by the chinese governemnt. he injected disease to the dog which will spread to the whle of india. then when india suffers, china can sell the medicine to india since only they know how to make this medicine since it is taught by bodhidharman years back. dong wants to kill surya n shruthi since shruthi can make surya into bodhidarman n can get the medicine. then shruthi n her frnds started experinmenting surya to become bodhidarman. then when dong almost kill surya, surya get activated by bodhidarman powers n destroys dong.

surya shruthi n dong are the 3 main characters in this movie. surya's performance was good. the much talked abt circus stunts failed to impress since it can be seen only for less than a minute in total in the ringa ringa song. but his action scenes are mind blowing espicially the climax. surya fight exactly like a martial art expert.

shruthi shd feel very lucky to get this role. she was more like a 2nd hero then an ordinary glam doll heroine. n she made use of it very well. she will have a bright future in tamil cinema. all the best to ulaganayagan heir.

then the villain dong. he simply rocked. one of the best villains i have seen. such a powerful eyes. his martial art wows the audience. well sected by murugadoss.

to tell abt the movie, it started of with history of bodhidarman. 15 mins of history. 15 cores was spent on it. so 1 core per min. it was deserving. yes. we could see n feel that richness in the 15 mins history. the action sequence was awesome. im sure all of you wld enjoy the history.

then the movie starts off. i would say it was dissapointing 1st half. the main reason for that was songs. 4 songs in the 1st half. 3 of them was unnecessry. 1st song was the chinese song n it was well placed. then after the history ends ringa ringa song started as an introduction. though ringa ringa song was unnecessairy it kept audince in the seat as the way the song was taken was gr8. with huge amnt of dancers n the location, camera etc. it was good to see. but then soon afterwards mun andhi song came too quikcly. then even quicker was yemma yemma. its disapointing to see director like ar murugadoss to place songs unnecessarily.

the story really didnt move in the 1st half. when the intermission came, to be honest i was not keen to watch the 2nd half. yes. it was that bad.

but 2nd half - it was 1st class. the movie ran in lightnening speed. every second was simply awesome. it makes you anxious to know what is goin to happen next. powerful, untouchable villan chasing hero n heroine may remind us of dasavatharam. adding to being a scientific medical movie, there was nothing else simlar to dasavathram. it is different.

stunt sequence is the highlight of this film. the movie shows the art of nokuvarmam which means controling of a person's brain by juz looking with your eyes. this was done by bodhidharman and the villain in many places. weather is that real or not, weather it could be done or not is a differnt thing. but an orndinary audience may not beilive it espicially the scene when the villain controls entire motorist mind in the road. but though it seems unbeilvable, it was overshadowed by the brilliant steunt sequence. what i mean is, spider biting a guy and the guy becomes spider man. though this is unbelivable, we will not bother abt it. we will look only @ the stunt sequence. same applies to this movie.

overall i would say that this movie will fullfill the expectaion of all if not exceed it. 7am arivu is a milestone not only in tamil film history but also indian film history. like i said the only minus is 1st half, but it was overshadowed byt the brilliant 2nd half. it is a must watch film.

im juz back frm watching 7am arivu - 6pm show in singapore. so thought of writing a review. well, i do not know how to write a review unlike pondy bhai. this is my 1st time. plus my english is not that gr8. so my review will be simple, meaning to say i wont go into too many details. many of you might know that im a surya fan. but dont worry. my thoughts are not biased. so strengthen your heart n mind 1st coz you might be reading the worst type of review in your life

i will not start of by saying things like this is the most expected film since its the ghajini team n murugadoss film after 5 years, its the 2nd costliest tamil movie etc. etc. i will jump straight into the story.

1600 years ago there was this prince called bodhidharman(surya) who is a martial art and a medicine expert. he is frm kanchivaram. then he went to china. not sure why coz many audience were shouting and whistling. then in the china village there was a weird disease attacking. then surya helped them cure this disease and taught them how to cure. so due to this the villager see him as a god. then later some men in horse attacked the village people. then again surya helped and taught them the martial arts. when he want to go back to india, the villagers gave him poison since they want his body to be burried in the village so that the village will be free from disease. knowing their intention, surya drank the poison willingly. thats how martial arts n chinese medicine grew.

then coming to the current year, there is this surya who is a circus artist who falls in love with shruthi hasan who is a scientist. shruthi moves closely with surya. then when surya relatives came frm their village they saw shrithi hasan n informs surya that shruthi hasan was following surya for more than a year. when surya heard this, he goes to shruthi home n finds out that shruthi was using surya all these while for experiments regarding dna since surya is bodhidharman's parambarai (dont know how to say in english sorry). then she tells more information about her research to surya saying that bodhidarman's power is inside surya n it can be activated.

meantime this villan frm china named dong injects something into a dog. then with the power of his eyes he destorys police officers n was going after surya n shrithi to kill them. surya n shruthi knows abt this n then they found out that that dong was sent by the chinese governemnt. he injected disease to the dog which will spread to the whle of india. then when india suffers, china can sell the medicine to india since only they know how to make this medicine since it is taught by bodhidharman years back. dong wants to kill surya n shruthi since shruthi can make surya into bodhidarman n can get the medicine. then shruthi n her frnds started experinmenting surya to become bodhidarman. then when dong almost kill surya, surya get activated by bodhidarman powers n destroys dong.

surya shruthi n dong are the 3 main characters in this movie. surya's performance was good. the much talked abt circus stunts failed to impress since it can be seen only for less than a minute in total in the ringa ringa song. but his action scenes are mind blowing espicially the climax. surya fight exactly like a martial art expert.

shruthi shd feel very lucky to get this role. she was more like a 2nd hero then an ordinary glam doll heroine. n she made use of it very well. she will have a bright future in tamil cinema. all the best to ulaganayagan heir.

then the villain dong. he simply rocked. one of the best villains i have seen. such a powerful eyes. his martial art wows the audience. well sected by murugadoss.

to tell abt the movie, it started of with history of bodhidarman. 15 mins of history. 15 cores was spent on it. so 1 core per min. it was deserving. yes. we could see n feel that richness in the 15 mins history. the action sequence was awesome. im sure all of you wld enjoy the history.

then the movie starts off. i would say it was dissapointing 1st half. the main reason for that was songs. 4 songs in the 1st half. 3 of them was unnecessry. 1st song was the chinese song n it was well placed. then after the history ends ringa ringa song started as an introduction. though ringa ringa song was unnecessairy it kept audince in the seat as the way the song was taken was gr8. with huge amnt of dancers n the location, camera etc. it was good to see. but then soon afterwards mun andhi song came too quikcly. then even quicker was yemma yemma. its disapointing to see director like ar murugadoss to place songs unnecessarily.

the story really didnt move in the 1st half. when the intermission came, to be honest i was not keen to watch the 2nd half. yes. it was that bad.

but 2nd half - it was 1st class. the movie ran in lightnening speed. every second was simply awesome. it makes you anxious to know what is goin to happen next. powerful, untouchable villan chasing hero n heroine may remind us of dasavatharam. adding to being a scientific medical movie, there was nothing else simlar to dasavathram. it is different.

stunt sequence is the highlight of this film. the movie shows the art of nokuvarmam which means controling of a person's brain by juz looking with your eyes. this was done by bodhidharman and the villain in many places. weather is that real or not, weather it could be done or not is a differnt thing. but an orndinary audience may not beilive it espicially the scene when the villain controls entire motorist mind in the road. but though it seems unbeilvable, it was overshadowed by the brilliant steunt sequence. what i mean is, spider biting a guy and the guy becomes spider man. though this is unbelivable, we will not bother abt it. we will look only @ the stunt sequence. same applies to this movie.

overall i would say that this movie will fullfill the expectaion of all if not exceed it. 7am arivu is a milestone not only in tamil film history but also indian film history. like i said the only minus is 1st half, but it was overshadowed byt the brilliant 2nd half. it is a must watch film.

Centuries later, Subha (Shruthi Haasan) is working on an experiment based on DNA Recombinant Technology. Her motto is bringing back the pre-existed qualities of Boddhidharman in his present lineage, who is none other than Aravind (Suriya) working as an artist in circus. But sooner the officials of Chinese Government assign Dong Lee (Johny Tri Nguyen) to assassinate Subha to stop her from assignment. Well, it’s not only this mission he is moving down to Chennai, but to start off ‘Operation Red’, which is a dangerous mission that will cost the lives of innocent souls. What happens next is a series of encounters among these three characters – Aravind, Subha and Dong Lee.

The basic concept of the film is something new for the audiences of Tamil Nadu, but the treatment of screenplay doesn’t make it engrossing. The first half of the film has unwanted sequences and the songs are nowhere closer to the film. The pace picks up only during second half and the last 25mins of this film is extraordinary.

Technically, the cinematography by Ravi K Chandran is the over the top and background score by Harris Jayaraj is below average.

On the whole, ‘7th sense’ has very little interesting moments, but doesn’t have a screenplay to keep the audiences intact over the show. We can say, it’s a disappointment from A.R. Murugadoss and only Suriya carries the film on his shoulders.

Verdict: Very average…. Doesn’t exceed our expectations

The story is said to revolve around a time machine brought to India by a scientist (Shruti Haasan). The film is also being dubbed in Hindi and Telugu. Suriya will sport the look of a Buddhist monk for only 20 minutes in the film. He will appear as a Tamil prince from Kancheepuram who travels to China and becomes a well-respected monk there. Director Murugadoss has done a lot of research on the role and sources who have seen the raw version of the film are amazed with Suriya's performance.

What happens when a product or service is promoted with more efforts than it actually deserves? Expectations shoot-up high and everyone waits for the Big Day. Well ‘7 Aum Arivu’ is not a mere exception as producer Udhayanidhi Stalin made sure that the film reaches the nook and corners of the globe with the vigorous promotion. Not to forget that the makers had shot more lines about the film.

Naturally, it has paved way for a grand opening in box office with Houseful shows for next five days that would surely have a cakewalk for the producers. But when it comes to analyzing the film, it’s a big disappointment from A.R. Murugadoss, the man behind the grand success of ‘Dheena’, ‘Ramana’ and ‘Ghajini’. Precisely, because it turned out to be a bigger hype for the film that left the audiences to expect a lot over the film and finally it has dashed down everyone’s hopes.

To be precise, the films ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Ramana’ had a strong value of message passed through a substantial entertainment. But this one has a flimsy screenplay with not so interesting moments across the show.

The film opens in the backdrops of 400-500 A.D. where see Suriya as a reigning prince from Pallava Dynasty of Kanchipuram. He embarks a journey to China for helping the poor and innocent people there from ailing diseases and teaches them martial arts. When it’s time for him to get back to Tamil Nadu, the astrologers feel that it’s a bad omen. To prevent him from departing, they poison him and he accepts their justification. Final result – Boddhidharman is buried in China and so is buried is his realms across the century.

To start off with the basic concept of 7 Aum Arivu, it’s a very well known concept that every individual on this globe possesses the traits of his ancestors and there is nothing new about it. But what makes the film so special and quite unique is our hero ‘Boddhidharman’. The factual reports about him exhibited during the opening sequences of the film are colossal. But what doesn’t interest the audiences is the screenplay that becomes dull at places and almost all the proceeding become predictable. To be precise, first half of the film has a moderate tempo and the conflict begins only during post-intermission.

We bring you some sequences from the film that deserves special appreciation…

1. The point where Johny tries to hypnotize Suriya and fails.
2. The dialogue pertaining to the death of a Tamil Liberation Leader and his culmination due to betrayal.
3. The action sequences on the highway road, where the entire public crowd starts attacking Suriya and Shruthi Haasan.

Suriya has done a tremendous hard work over his physique and his action sequences are very much perfect. But it’s Johny Tri Nguyen stealing the show with his marvelous stunts. In fact, the foreign actor wins applause with his introduction scene. Shruthi Haasan looks little nervous during most of the sequences, but delivers an impressive spell in songs, especially in ‘Yella Lama’, which carries a amazing cinematography. The onscreen chemistry between Suriya and Shruthi Haasan is completely missing.

Most of the songs are nowhere closer to the film 7aum Arivu. A.R. Murugadoss has purposely added the songs to add up length. Harris Jayaraj is losing his graph over the background score in his past few films and this one doesn’t become an exception. Most of the sequences have loud and noisy background score. Anthony’s editing is crisp, especially during the action sequences…

Suriya’s 7th Sense (7am Arivu) pre release review

7am Arivu (7th Sense) movie starring Suriya is releasing tomorrow in Telugu and Tamil on a grand scale. Tamil version premieres are being screened from mid noon today and the report is already out. This highly expected Tamil film of the year is carrying negative reports as of now.

The first premiere report says that 7th Sense (7aum Arivu) might end up as a flop. Confusing screenplay, silly plot seems to be the spoilers for this film. Suriya tried too hard to lift up the spirits but Murugadoss failed to deliver the goods it seems.

The music composed by Harris Jairaj is already a downer and with the initial feedback from the viewers, Seventh Sense is likely to end up as a colossal flop. The Telugu version is already facing problems due to proper publicity.

Movie starts off in China with introductory scenes about martial arts set in 16th century...Good graphics work.

Young Bodhidharman (suriya) entrance...terrific response in the theater and good BGM.

Suriya looks macho in the title sequence.

Bodhidharman story thread continues show problems in a chinese village.

Chinese song starts off after Bodhidharman cures a mysterious disease.

Another problem in the village and a fight to solve it.

Very poor quality graphics in the fight make people laugh.Very loud BGM.

Villains killing their own people...Reason being Drushti Vaseekaranam :)

End of Bodhidharman episode.Movie moves into present times.

Introduction of villain and operation red.Villain assigned with an important task and a show reel of villain's talents :)

Now back to India but 93 days ago.A movie full of time lines :)

Ringa Ringa Song.

Good picturization of the song but the situation of the song is very silly.Circus Surya introduced.

So far the movie is a bit confusing as it still needs to enter the main story line...All characters being introduced.

Heroine introduced in a very simple manner.

Aravinda is the name of Suriya in his circus artist character.

Hero falls in love with the heroine in first look...Director trying to evoke some comedy...So far a futile effort at that :(

Hero trying to impress the heroine...Movie going on at a so so pace.

Hero gives a lift to the heroine on an elephant...hmmmm...hero trying nonstop to evoke some comedy.

Munnaji song...Beach song...Shruthi Hassan looks gorgeous in this song.

About 15-20 people walked out...signs of impatience ??

btw...we are now down from 93 days to 63 days in the flashback :) Signs of movie entering the main storyline.

Heroine trying to utilize hero for a key task keeping the hero in dark about the same.

Shruthi Hassan is the dumbest actor i have ever come across...absolutely stone faced :(

A twist in the tale :)

Sad song..yamma yamma song...hero cheated by heroine...Movie falling flat...

Countless walkouts for this song...Good song wasted...

So far the movies gives an impression that something is there in store but no clue about when all that will be revealed :(

Day 85...now heroine starts chasing the hero...hmmmmm

Hero dragged to a museum by the heroine to tell him about his family heritage...

Heroine explaining an absurd theory about how hero can be strengthened by colluding the DNA of bodhidharman with the hero's...Enter the villain...hmmmmm

Operation Red starts...Interval...Surya performance is the only saving grace so far...Heroine is absolutely emotionless...Zero entertainment...Only a strong second half can save this film.

Power cut facilitates a lengthy interval for us to recuperate and prepare ourselves for the second half :)

Some scenes praising tamil language muster good response from the crowds :)

Though he is a martial arts expert,villain uses Drushti Vaseekaran against his opponents who start killing themselves...truly funny stuff though comedy is not intended here :)

Twist...Villain being helped by people close to the heroine...Hero and heroine trying to chase the mystery behind a chinese villain following them...

A boring scene followed by yelamma song...movie moving at the same pace as the first half.

Nothing to rave about in this song...People generously treating it as a second interval...

Finally some interesting scenes...Operation Red being explained in detail.

Whole concept explained in detail with interesting scenes but overall it seems a bit silly to me personally...

Now it is the turn of Shruthi hassan to hog the limelight...

Villain searching for the hero and heroine in a separate track...nothing short of a buffoon...

Story demands the hero to underplay right now and he is underplaying dutifully :)

Great scene...absolutely stunning...spell bound...Oh God....villain tries to control the hero seeing him directly into his eyes and the hero retaliates with his eyes...Oh God

Nusrat Bhutto mother of Benazir Bhutto dies in Dubai

Nusrat Bhutto, widow of former Pakistan Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) and mother of his political successor Benazir Bhutto, died on Sunday evening in Dubai following a prolonged illness. She is survived by daughter Sanam and eight grandchildren torn apart by differences within the Bhutto clan.

Her body is being brought to Pakistan to be buried along with her husband and three children at the family’s graveyard in Garhi Khuda Bukhsh at their ancestral place in the Naudero area of Sindh province. President Asif Ali Zardari - who was in Jordan to attend a conference - reached Dubai from Amman to bring the body to Pakistan.

According to the presidential spokesman, Mr. Zardari will be joined in Dubai by Sanam Bhutto and his own children, Bilawal, Bakhtawar and Aseefa - all of whom are in London - and together they will bring the body to Pakistan.

Another grandchild, author Fatima Bhutto - daughter of ZAB’s second-born and eldest son Murtaza Bhutto - appeared briefly before the media weeping in the arms of her step-mother Ghinwa Bhutto. Their remarks to the media were a stark reminder of the bitter relations between the surviving members of the Bhutto family. A sobbing Fatima told the media that Benazir Bhutto’s family had kept her away from her grandmother for 15 years.

Ms. Bhutto, who had been living in Dubai for years, is credited with moulding the Pakistan People’s Party founded by her husband into a vehicle of resistance against dictatorships as she had to pick up the reins of the organisation when ZAB was sent to prison and later executed by martial ruler Zia-ul Haq.

The big question that this confirmation throws up is, will cool Kat go ahead with wearing a bikini in the film.
For those who came in late, Katrina was always the first choice for the role. However, a precondition for doing the role was that Katrina would have to wear a two-piece in a couple of scenes in the film.

Strong 7.2 Earthquake Rocks Eastern Turkey

A strong earthquake has hit southeastern Turkey near the border with Iran. There are initial reports of damages and casualties, but no firm figures.

The magnitude 7.2 quake struck Van province on Sunday (at 1041 UTC).

Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay says 25 to 30 buildings and a dormitory collapsed in the town of Ercis, and another 10 buildings fell in the city of Van.

Turkey’s state-run Anatolian news agency reported earlier that at least 50 people had been injured.

Television footage showed collapsed buildings and crushed vehicles in Van and scores of people with shovels and pry bars clawing through wreckage for survivors. The mayor of Ercis issued a call for urgent aid, saying “there are so many dead.”

Major geological fault lines cross the region and small earthquakes are a near daily occurrence.

Actor Shah Rukh Khan, who has repeatedly been claiming credit for the concept of his superhero film RA.One was taken to court on Friday for plagiarising TV writer and producer Yash Patnaik’s story.

So far neither Khan, nor anyone from his team commented on the issue, but on Saturday afternoon, the film’s screenwriter Mushtaq Sheikh made a statement on the microblogging site Twitter saysing: “Sometimes worthy works get mixed with unrelated people, who want their 15 minutes of ‘fame’ (Yash). Creepy maggots will do anything for publicity! (sic)”.

Unmoved by the comment, Patnaik feels it will only work in his favour. “He is challenging the high court’s judgement,” says the artiste, who had first pitched his story to Sheikh back in 2006. “My team worked on it for six years. Mushtaq was supposed to give the script to Shah Rukh as he used to work with him.”

On Friday, a division bench of chief justice Mohit Shah and justice Roshan Dalvi asked Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment and co-distributors Eros Entertainment to deposit R 1 crore with the Bombay High Court, after observing a copyright violation. If the defendants fail to do so by Saturday, an injunction against the film’s October 26 release will be operational. The court will hear the case in November next.

Patnaik sought an injunction against the release of the film on October 1, this year. He claims he registered the concept with the Film Writers Association on December 26, 2006.
“Our first hearing was on October 12,” he says, adding that “he wants to be paid only if the makers refuse to give him credit in the film”. “They have taken the concept and they should give me credit. People should be aware,” says Patnaik, insistent. “I don’t know if the prints have gone out or how they will make the changes. They still have the India release, and the broadcast and DVD release? If the intension is there, I’m sure they can do it.” Patnaik also apparently has demanded being given 10 per cent of the film’s profit share. “I am not saying ‘pay me the money and I’m happy’.

If they can’t incorporate the credit where do I go? They have taken everything away.”

James Arthur Ray’s attorneys want another sentencing delay

Attorneys for a self-help author set to be sentenced next month for the deaths of three people following an Arizona sweat lodge ceremony are asking a judge to delay that decision.

The request from James Arthur Ray's defense team came a day after the judge pushed back the mitigation hearing and the sentencing date because defense attorney Tom Kelly suffered a heart
condition. Sentencing is Oct. 6.

The defense says it's unclear whether Kelly can proceed as the lead attorney for the sentencing phase.

Ray's attorneys further argued that two of them have scheduling conflicts, as do some of the witnesses set to testify in support of Ray during next week's mitigation hearing.

Prosecutors say they want Ray sentenced before the two-year anniversary of the ceremony he led near Sedona.

Obama announces end of Iraq war, troops to return home by year end

President Obama announced Friday that the United States will withdraw nearly all troops from Iraq by the end of the year, effectively bringing the long and polarizing war in Iraq to an end.

"After nearly 9 years, America's war in Iraq will be over," said Mr. Obama.

He said the last American troops will depart the country by January 1 "with their heads held high, proud of their success, and knowing that the American people stand united in our support for our troops."

"The transition in Afghanistan is moving forward, and our troops are finally coming home," he added, saying in the White House briefing room that U.S. troops "will definitely be home for the holidays."

The war in Iraq has meant the death of more than 4,400 U.S. troops and come at a cost of more than $700 billion. Asked in a briefing following Mr. Obama's remarks if it was worth it, Antony Blinken, National Security Adviser to Vice President Joe Biden, said, "history is going to have to judge."

Iraq: By the numbers

U.S. and Iraqi officials have spent months debating whether to honor a planned December 31 deadline for troop withdrawal, set in 2008, amid concerns that the full withdrawal of U.S. forces could put the country at risk. Many U.S. officials wanted to leave a few thousand military trainers in the country past the end of the year, but, as the Associated Press reported Sunday, "Iraqi leaders have adamantly refused to give U.S. troops immunity from prosecution in Iraqi courts, and the Americans have refused to stay without it."

America has already withdrawn nearly 100,000 troops from Iraq already as part of the current draw-down; nearly 40,000 "non-combat" troops remain. Mr. Obama said Friday that "Iraqis have taken full responsibility for their country's security" and said that the relationship between the United States and Iraq going forward will be one of equals.

"It will be a normal relationship between sovereign nations, an equal partnership based on mutual interest and mutual respect," he said.

Mr. Obama discussed the planned announcement earlier in the day with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki over secure video conference. He said al-Maliki "spoke of the determination of the Iraqi people to forge their own future," and that the two leaders are "in full agreement about how to move forward."

Mr. Obama said he had invited al-Maliki to the White House in December and vowed that the United States and Iraq will embark on a "strong and enduring partnership."

"As I told Prime Minister Maliki, we will continue discussions on how we might help Iraq train and equip its forces, again, just as we offer training and assistance to countries around the world," said the president. "After all, there will be some difficult days ahead for Iraq and the United States will continue to have an interest in an Iraq that is stable, secure and self-reliant.

Mr. Obama had vowed to end the war in Iraq as a presidential candidate. He spoke out passionately against the war in 2002, though later said the United States had an "absolute obligation" to stay in the country as long as it took to achieve success.

Mr. Obama said the United States will be "moving forward from a position of strength" and that the troop departure "will be a time to reflect on all that we've been through in this war."

"I'll join the American people in paying tribute to the more than 1 million Americans who have served in Iraq," he said. "We'll honor our many wounded warriors and the nearly 4,500 American patriots and their Iraqi and coalition partners who gave their lives to this effort."

Mr. Obama cast the end of the Iraq war in the larger context of a smaller U.S. military presence around the world. "The tide of war is receding," he said, pointing to the start of a troop withdrawal in Afghanistan.

"When I took office, roughly 180,000 troops were deployed in both these wars. And by the end of this year that number will be cut in half," he said. "And make no mistake, they will continue to go down."

Yash Raj Films had set the release date of the third installment of their Dhoom series for December 2012. The movie will see Aamir Khan in a negative role along with Abhishek Bachchan, Katirna Kaif and Uday Chopra.

Robin Uthappa has been recalled to the Indian squad for the Twenty20 International against England. He last represented the national team more than three years ago, in the 2008 Asia Cup in Pakistan. Yusuf Pathan, who was dropped after the West Indies tour, also made a return to the Twenty20 squad.

Gautam Gambhir will be unavailable for the T20I on October 29 due to his wedding. The other player from the ongoing ODI series missing in the Twenty20 line-up is Parthiv Patel. For the remaining ODIs, the selectors have retained the squad that has registered a 2-0 lead.

Salman Khan in Mahesh babu's Dookudu's Hindi remake

While Bollywood's dream run at the box-office seems to be waning (hopefully temporarily till the promising Diwali releases), there's one South film that has been garnering enough eyeballs to make it a winner in the overseas market, too.

Mahesh Babu's Telugu film Dookudu has earned more than R 30 crore so far (collecting 82,000 dollars at a multiplex in Virginia, US), making Brad Pitt's Moneyball the only movie to surpass it financially. No wonder, then, the Salman Khan camp is abuzz with plans of remaking the movie in Hindi soon.

Kona Venkat, who worked on Ready in Telugu and Hindi, and is also associated with Anees Bazmee's No Entry sequel and Sohail Khan's Sher Khan, confirmed the same. "Sreenu, who directed Ready in Telugu, is keen to remake Dookudu in Hindi with Salmanbhai. In fact, the lead character's heroism suits Salman bhai perfectly. We won't need to make alterations for the Hindi version," he says, adding that their entire team was aware that the Dabangg star would do the remake.

"Even Mahesh Babu said that Salman bhai would be the best actor for the Hindi version," he added.

Interestingly, the Telugu Dookudu was written keeping Salman in mind. However, while the Mahesh Babu film cost Rs 35 crore to make, the budget set aside for the Bollywood version with the Bodyguard star is pegged at Rs 60 crore.

There may be a problem though as the protagonist in the Telugu movie is a cop.

"Salmanbhai isn't keen on another policeman role before the Dabangg sequel," explained Venkat, informing that he is waiting for the actor, currently in Mumbai, to take a call after watching Dookudu.

He further states that if the producer and director decide to wait till Dabangg 2 is ready, then there should be no reason for Salman to decline the movie.

Ever since Mahesh Babu's film released, Bollywood producers and actors are vying for the remake rights, believed to be over Rs 3 crore. But till Salman makes his mind, everything on the remake has been put on hold.

Dookudu Movie Review - Dookudu Telugu movie Review - Dookudu Review: Mahesh Babu's Dookudu movie is coming exactly one year after Kaleja. With soaring expectations, Dookudu is coming with highest number of prints in Mahesh's career. So let's check out Dookudu Telugu movie review.

Story

Shankar Narayana (Prakash Raj) is a big mass leader living along with his son Ajay (Mahesh Babu). This big family gets a jolt when Shankar Narayana dies in an accident. When Ajay grew up as an IPS officer, he comes to know about the conspiracy behind his father's murder plot and tries to take vengeance against all those who planned for it. Part of his operation also includes visiting Turkey where he'll get smitten by Prashanthi (Samantha). How Ajay sets up things for his father Shankar Narayana, and his antics to discover the hidden truth behind the murder plot of ground remains to be seen on the silver screen.
Analysis :

Mahesh Babu's Dookudu turns out to be a decent entertainer after coming up with thunderous expectations. In a way, Dookudu movie is a let down in the form of weak script, dragging second half and lack of killer and power packed scenes. Director Seenu Vaitla could not engage the audience with his gripping narration and we could see Mahesh Babu's ballyhoo dominating the script, at times. Seenu Vaitla once again brings glimpses from the movies like Dhee, Ready, etc and was trying to weave a family drama amid emotions and action. He however manages to steal the show with his strong point – comedy.

Mahesh Babu characterization is pretty alright but he continues the same dialogue delivery format which he used in Kaleja. Trying to create humor during normal conversations. The content was not properly packed particularly the romance track between Mahesh Babu and Samantha. Their on-screen chemistry was not sizzling and it was not in sync with the content. On the flip side, the screenplay has a lot of do with . Some times, Mahesh Babu will be shown as a cop in his elements and the very next scene you'd see his emotional side. This is evident right throughout the film which made the movie lose out on connecting drama aspect.

So what makes this simple revenge drama enjoyable is the treatment if sub plots. Not the best, but certainly enough to create some comedy for the masses, particularly towards the second half. Seenu Vytla’s forte has always been his comedy timing and he once again ensured that he has filled the entire film with entertainment in the form of Brahmanandam, MS Narayana, etc. Without Brahmi, guess the movie would have been a debacle but even then, Seenu Vaitla could not extract the best out of Brahmanandam.
TeluguOne Perspective :

Seenu Vailta was heavily relying on Mahesh Babu's stardom and in the process, could not spin a riveting anecdote. Its the comedy part of Brahmanandam and MS Narayana that hogs the limelight during the second half. And Seenu Vaitla made Mahesh Babu an integral part of this comedy package and have bypassed the real build up and tempo towards the climax of the movie. The revenge drama became light as the movie progressed and in fact, turned into a lighter vein act.

The comedy in the movie is very fresh and the intertwining of ideas. The concept of creating drama and humor with 'reality show' was unique and Brahmanandam and MS Narayana keep the audience laughing all the while. The movie moves well in the first half and drags a bit towards the second half. Dookudu movie is not a flawless script but Seenu Vaitla has managed to put up a decent show and has rescued the movie with his comedy tinge and pulsation. Mahesh Babu's Dookudu promises plenty but could not afford so much as the movie is a brooding one based on love and violence interspersed in interesting combination. The old world of Hyderabad, the dark streets of Mumbai paved with blood and guts provide an intriguing backdrop – all building up for Mahesh Babu's characterization.

Performances

Mahesh Babu comes up with a good performance (I expected much more). He has put on some weight and looks chubby in certain scenes and even tries to dance for some tunes – much to the fan fare delight. His cop looks are stunning.
Samantha is just a waste in the movie. Looks like Seenu Vaitla has decided to use her only for the songs and stuff.

Brahmanandam steals the show. He shoulders the entire second half of the movie along with MS Narayana. Both, with their comedy timing and performance, made the movie entertaining and left something for the audience to cheer. Prakash Raj is at his usual best. Shiyaji Shinde, Sonu Sood, Kota, Dharmavarapu are all good.

Technicalities

SS Thaman's background score is enthralling and his numbers are also very good. Editor MR Varma needs to do a lot of work as he should have had edited the second half better. Gopi Mohan's story is very interesting but Seenu Vaitla could not utilize such a script. Prasad Murella's camera work has been very quite brilliant. His camera angles and shot selection was very impressive.

Mahesh Babu's Dookudu movie review promised a lot but in the end manages a decent show, if not for all the hoopla! Dookudu review and talk might not immediately affect the movie's run at the box office since there's no immediate film countering this release!

Kingfisher Red to close its business in four months

It’s the end of the road for one of India’s most successful budget airlines. Kingfisher Airlines, India’s second-largest airline by market share, has decided to stop its low-fare service — Kingfisher Red (erstwhile Air Deccan) — in the next four months. Air Deccan, which aimed to make flying affordable to the common man, became popular with the RK Laxman common man character and the tagline ‘Simplifly’.

Analysts said the closure of Kingfisher Red service would lead to Kingfisher conceding about 4 per cent of the market share to other low-cost airlines. PwC executive director and aviation analyst Dhiraj Mathur said this would impact the topline of Kingfisher.

“The airline which is facing a debt problem would ultimately have to rely on the lenders’ approval of this change in its business plan,” an aviation industry expert who consultants banks said.

Analysts, however, said it was not clear whether Kingfisher would surrender its leased aircraft to salvage its bottomline.

The loss-making airline was acquired by billionaire industrialist Vijay Mallya in 2007 from captain GR Gopinath in a landmark deal in India’s aviation history.

“At this time Kingfisher will be dropping the Kingfisher Red class of service. This effort will be concluded in the next four months,” Vijay Mallya, chairman at UB group said in a statement on Wednesday.

Kingfisher Airlines at present offers three classes of service-Kingfisher First, Kingfisher Class Economy and Kingfisher Red no frills economy. According to the company, over the past six months, Kingfisher Class has generated higher yields and seat factors than the no frills Kingfisher Red class of service.

Sunil Jain, vice president-equity research at Nirmal Bang Securities Research said, “Kingfisher Red, erstwhile Air Deccan had legacy of debt introduced by the previous promoter – Gopinath. He introduced cheap fares as low as Re 1. He built a lot of debt, which is now hurting the airline. However, the closing of Kingfisher Red will not solve the basic problem of high debt of over Rs 7,000 crore.”

Kingfisher continues to work with the consortium of banks with a view to further reducing interest costs. “Some of the proposed initiatives include sale and lease-back of some of its aircraft and other assets to reduce loans and converting part of its rupee loans into low cost forex loans based on existing forex cash flows,” said Mallya in the statement. However the recent depreciation of the rupee against dollar has eaten away some of these gains from foreign currency denominated loans, said experts.

Mallya further said the airline is undertaking various initiatives to improve margins and to reduce the interest burden. “We are also undertaking cabin reconfiguration, which will add significant number of seats and hence generate additional revenue at minimal cost. All of Kingfisher’s Airbus aircraft will have a first class with incremental seats in economy,” he said in the statement.

In order to further improve operating performance, Kingfisher is in the process of reconfiguring its aircraft, which would increase the capacity by 10 per cent at minimal incremental cost. Kingfisher, which operates with load factors of 80 per cent on the domestic routes, expects this additional capacity would result in significantly improved revenues. “It is a good move on part of Kingfisher Airlines as it will provide high occupancy and high margin to the company than running a low-cost airline with high cost. Kingfisher Airlines has always remained travel agent friendly airline and we were also getting bookings for full service class. With number of seats for full service class increasing, it will certainly benefit us,” said Ashwini Kakkar, vice chairman at Mercury Travels.

High aviation turbine fuel prices and different taxation on ATF in different states is also affecting airlines in the country, including Kingfisher, an analyst with a leading domestic institutional brokerage said. He further said, “Kingfisher should fund the operations through equity. Someone has to fund that part otherwise it will have to restructure the debt again and again.”

Kingfisher had acquired a 26 per cent stake in Air Deccan for Rs 550 crore in 2007 and made an open offer for a 20 per cent stake, taking its holding to 46 per cent. UB group had invested over Rs 1,000 crore to pick up a controlling stake in Deccan Aviation.

Mallya said that Kingfisher implemented a debt recast package in this financial year, under which loans from bankers in excess of Rs 1,300 crore and funds from promoters of approximately Rs 745 crore were converted into share capital. Further, the interest rate on the recast loans was lowered to 11 per cent and the period of repayment was extended to nine years, he said. The consortium of banks led by State Bank of India now owns 23 per cent equity in the airline.

Meanwhile, Kingfisher has plans to raise Rs 2,000 crore through a rights issue. “A rights issue can be launched in addition to a global depository receipts or separately to raise capital,” Mallya said in the statement.

“The high cost of ATF coupled with a weakening Rupee is the biggest challenge that the whole aviation industry in India is currently dealing with and we are no exception,” said Mallya.

On an average, the load factors in Kingfisher First have been 50 per cent. As such the capacity is being reduced on existing dual class Airbus aircraft and introduced on existing single class Airbus aircraft. Kingfisher will, therefore offer the Kingfisher First service on all its Airbus routes albeit with an overall reduction in capacity, the company said in the statement.

Shares of Kingfisher fell by 1.2 per cent to close at Rs 24.75 per share on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Wednesday. The shares have fallen from 52 week high of Rs 91 per share in October 2010 to this level after continued losses.

Veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor's directorial debut "Mausam" starring his son Shahid Kapoor and actress Sonam Kapoor had a good opening Friday as it earned approximately Rs 9 crore on the first day, an informed source said.

Made at a budget of Rs 35 crore, the film released in around 1,900 screens and is going strong with 100 per cent occupancy. The film aims to bring back the true romance.

"Mausam" is a love story which shows how a couple is forced to estrange by socio-political situations around.

It captures the crest and trough they go through a span of 10 years until they reunite and make a happy ending. Shahid Kapoor plays the role of an air force pilot and Sonam Kapoor a Kashmiri girl.

The film was supposed to release Sep 16 but it was postponed after the delay in getting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Indian Air Force which had objections over a few scenes.

Creativity sometimes borders on insanity. In the sense, that when an artist ventures to paint his canvass he has to know when to stop. That's what you call brilliance in a genius. If an artist continues to go beyond that moment when he has failed to establish that his art is complete and he has done enough, is when he moves into self-indulgent zone. A dangerous place to be in. A creative person has to stop, step back, disconnect himself from his work and look at it dispassionately. It's one thing to fall in love with your work; another to keep caressing it over and over again.

This is exactly what first-time director and award winning actor Pankaj Kapoor has done. He has committed the cardinal sin of not knowing when to stop. Also, I feel, he has tried to mix in too many turbulent elements of the past, intersperse them and in the process has ended up burning his fingers. Kapoor has linked events of Operation Blue Star, trouble in the Kashmir Valley, Ayodhya and the bringing down of the Babri Masjid, Bombay Bomb Blasts, Twin Tower strike in New York and Godhra in Ahmedabad. Through these events he links a love story that stands the test of time.

Both central characters Sq. Leader Harrinder Singh, aka Harry (Shahid Kapoor) and Aayat (Sonam Kapoor) have scarred pasts. While Harry's past is linked to Blue Star, Aayat has nightmares of Kashmir. Both meet in Mullakot, a sleepy village in Punjab where Harry is the most popular boy. He has a silent admirer in Rajjo, his padosan played by Aditi Sharma. That girl is fida over Harry, but Harry will only settle for a special someone. When Aayat comes to stay in his village, his heart goes dhak dhak.
